Wildlife Area Cleanup Projects

Clean-up activities in wildlife areas are regularly organized by Friends of Second Marsh in the Second Marsh watershed.  This generally involves picking up and disposing of litter along trails and stream valleys.  Cleaning up litter helps keep these areas more attractive for the people who use them and also removes some materials that could be harmful to wildlife (i.e. discarded fishing gear, broken glass, etc.)

Our main clean up event is the Beach Clean-up run each year at McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve. Friends’ staff and volunteers cover the shoreline trails along McLaughlin Bay and the barrier beach in front of Second Marsh picking up litter along the way.

If you are interested in volunteering contact Friends’ office at (905) 723-5047.
